Fountaingrove, Sonoma - “Petrichor (pet-ri-kor) n. the scent of rain on dry earth. We chose this obscure term for our wine because, in a word, Petrichor defines our passion for terroir driven wines. We want our wines to express the robust interplay of our volcanic soil and the diverse elements of the Redwood Hill climate. But beyond its efficient and eloquent expression of the terroir, Petrichor has a transportive quality. Petrichor connects us to nature and becomes a smell we can remember and a memory we can smell. We hope that when you first sip Petrichor wine, you will feel that same connection and be transported, from wherever you are, to the unique terroir of our vineyard high atop Redwood Hill.” (Jim & Margaret Foley, Grower/Producers)

Roche-Mère Wine Selections
France - Vigor, artistry, and values are paramount for what we search for in our producers. The term ‘Roche-Mère’ best translates from French to English as ‘Bedrock’. It is the foundation, expression and personality of a great wine. Where the vines' roots (dry-farmed) dig vigorously to feed, making France, as a wine-producing country with its complex patchwork of quality bedrock, the undeniable reference for fine wines. These are the wines that we're passionate about; mineral, deep, complex reds and whites, that express their specific typicity and origin. Only a few meet our standards for quality and value. Just as important, the people who make the wines must be exceptional people.
Spain, Hungary, Italy, France, Estonia - Rooted Selections is an import company based on the simple idea that wine is so much more than a beverage. To us, wine is a passion, it brings family and friends together, and allows you the experience of traveling the world in a glass. It is this love of wine and a burning desire to try as many as possible that has led us to seek out lesser-known regions, grape varieties, and wineries. First (and most important), these wines are delicious and often represent amazing values. Second, the wines we love are produced by passionate family wineries that have a great love and respect for their land. Finally, these wines are grossly underrepresented in the United States. It is for these reasons and the fact that we want to enjoy these remarkable wines ourselves, we endeavor to scour the earth in search of truly unique and honest wines.

Wines of Substance
Washington State - The original thought was to be a one wine brand, with a single minded vision to produce the best value-priced Cabernet Sauvignon in America. How do you go about this? Traditional winemaking. Natural fermentations. Barrel-aging. Plus, bottling unfiltered and unfined. In essence, making the wines in small batch winemaking integrity, but doing so on a larger scale. The wine is black. The label definitively says, "This is Cabernet Sauvignon." This is the newest chapter in the history books of Charles Smith and his wines.
