After thirty years of stewardship, Ray and Nancy decided that it was time to retire. What began as a casual conversation over dinner evolved into the next chapter for Elyse Winery. In October 2018, Ray and Nancy Coursen sold Elyse Winery to fellow Yountville locals, Josh Peeples, and his partner, Cheryl. Perfect timing for both parties, the torch has been passed to continue the same passion for the decades to come. Napa Valley, California -The Hourglass estate vineyard was replanted to Cabernet in 1992. Jeff Smith said later, "With all the early signs in our favor, we still had no assurance we could get this piece of ground to create world class wine. To this day we are committed to that lofty goal, but unfortunately we have little wine for ourselves."

Jacob Franklin Cellars
Napa Valley, California - Jacob Franklin Cellars is focused on small production, low yield, vineyard designate wines from Napa Valley. Jacob Franklin Cellars debut bottling was in 1998 & we fondly & literally refer to it as the brother label of Elyse Winery. After selling Elyse Winery, Ray Coursen & son Jake Coursen turned their focus 100% to Jacob Franklin Wines. These wines have always been a bit of a departure from the Elyse label, gaining access to some extremely limited, incredible fruit such as Petite Sirah and Cabernet Franc from highly desirable vineyards. This fruit makes richly focuses, highly extracted, brawny yet layer wines with fantastic aging potential. Since the fruit is hard to come by and very low in yield, the wines are very limited and sell out quickly.

Land & Reed Wine Company
Napa Valley, California - Tracey & John Skupny started Lang & Reed Wine Company in 1996 with the goal to explore the distinct charms of Cabernet Franc and to craft wines that are both expressive and enjoyable to drink. The early 80’s in Napa Valley found vintners utilizing Bordeaux varieties as components of their red wine blends, and Cabernet Franc was a key varietal. Its critical contribution led Tracey and John to explore the broad range of aromatics and flavors emerging from Cabernet Franc. Inspired on this journey, the Skupnys set out to produce a Cabernet Franc that was ‘true to type’, redolent in aroma, and pure in flavor with, structure and balance.

Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley. These wines are for pleasure.
